Despite indications that he had suffered a major injury the night before at WWE “Night of Champions” on Sunday, WWE.com still posted on its site that “The Vigilante” Sting would be appearing on “Monday Night Raw” to open the show with a “Major Announcement.”
That never happened, though, as WWE’s flagship program began with Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, and Braun Strowman in the ring, followed by Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Randy Orton.
There was reportedly some miscommunication on WWE’s part, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio. TMZ reported earlier in the day that Sting was at home resting prior to WWE.com’s update.
Meltzer adds that the former WCW World Champion is not currently booked to compete at the “Hell in a Cell” pay-per-view, with his status with the company now up in the air.
It was noted shortly after the pay-per-view went off the air that Sting may have injured his neck or spinal cord. If that’s the case, the 56-year-old’s wrestling career may be over.
Editor’s Note
Feel better, Sting. Injuries like this (while still reported) are scary as all hell.
