The first “Divas Search” took place in 2003, although the winner didn’t receive a contract to join WWE. All the winner Jaime Koeppe won was a photoshoot.
The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE will in fact bring the competition back in the near future. It won’t, however, air on television like the reality series “Tough Enough” currently does. Instead, the next “Divas Search” will be an exclusive for the WWE Network.
Considering the issues the “Tough Enough” series currently has with ratings and the overall formatting, it behooves WWE officials to stick “Divas Search” on the Network to help avoid a backlash, and any potential issues along the way.
Some past competitors from the “Divas Search” include TNA ring announcer Christy Hemme and Playboy covergirl Carmella DeCesare, who were both the finalists in 2004.
A number of former WWE Divas Champions and Divas have also emerged from the competition, as well: Eve Torres, Michelle McCool, Candice Michelle, Taryn Terrell, Maryse, Rosa Mendes, Ashley Massaro and Layla El.
Editor’s Note
I would be against this had the likes of Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks not just cracked the main roster.
