Matt Hardy recently worked TNA’s IMPACT tapings in New York City at the Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom.
According to a report by The Wrestling Observer, Hardy was paid double his usual booking fee to appear at the tapings.
On top of his travel and hotel fees, Hardy charges $1500 an appearance, including another $300 for his wife Reba Sky.
As far as his future in TNA and Ring of Honor is concerned, Hardy has not signed a deal with either company. He doesn’t want to, though. Hardy is happy working for both organizations, although he’s perfectly aware that it may be impossible to do the longer he does it.
On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Hardy revealed that he’s “set for life financially” after his years with World Wrestling Entertainment. He enjoys remaining a part of the independent circuit to get some extra income and continue being a part of the wrestling industry.
Hardy teamed with Michael Bennett in a losing effort to The Briscoe Brothers at ROH’s recent “Best in the World” pay-per-view. He’s set to team with his brother Jeff against The Wolves on an upcoming episode of IMPACT Wrestling.
Editor’s Note
I respect Hardy’s ability to remain a presence in wrestling while many superstars of his era lack the ability to adapt. He’s worked with young, up-and-coming stars on the independent scene while also making a little extra cash. There’s nothing wrong with that.
