The rumors of a possible return to World Wrestling Entertainment for former World Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle continue to run rampant online.
Recent reports had WWE offering Angle a full-time deal, although the 45-year-old turned it down because he didn’t believe his body could handle that kind of schedule.
During a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio on F4WOnline.com, acclaimed wrestling writer Dave Meltzer shot down rumors that Angle was currently in negotiations with WWE.
Meltzer believes that WWE offering Angle a full-time contract is “bogus” and may be managements way of politely turning him down because they know he would never accept it in the first place.
He then went on to say that the only plausible scenario would be for Angle to make a farewell run that lasts only a couple of months, but only if he can pass all Wellness Policy and physical tests prior to signing.
There’s always a chance that Angle could return to TNA Wrestling as well. He has a very close relationship with TNA President Dixie Carter and feels that he may owe them for being such a help to him during a very sour time in his life.
His contract with the company expired on Sept. 21 of this year.
Angle had reached out to both WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and COO Triple H in the past, although both sides are weary of establishing a working relationship because of his past.
Editor’s Note
The best-case scenario would be for Angle to make a triumphant return at the “Royal Rumble” and have one last match at WrestleMania 31. The long-term risk is far too great. He just needs a short-term deal where he works very sporadically. That would be just fine.
