In a story first confirmed on June 9, World Wrestling Entertainment has reached a deal with former ROH World Champion Kevin Steen.
His match with Silas Young as ROH’s “Best in the World” pay-per-view this past Sunday night was expected to be his last with the company, but now it appears that won’t be the case.
In a post-match promo, Steen announced that he had a little over one month remaining on his ROH contract, after which he’ll report to the WWE Performance Center to begin his run in developmental.
After leaving the ring to allow Steen to speak, Young returned and attacked his adversary, hinting at least one more match between the two down the road.
Steen is a one-time ROH Champion and one-time ROH Tag Team Champion with El Generico (Sami Zayn in WWE).
Editor’s Note
Fans were chanting “Stay Steen Stay” at Kevin Steen after his match. His importance to Ring of Honor and the amount of love and respect ROH fans have for him should never be downplayed. He’s the John Cena of their company and one of the biggest stars they’ve ever had. At least we’ll be getting another 75 days or so of Steen in an ROH ring.
