As reported on Oct. 25 here at WrestlingRumors.net, WWE will be dropping their “Elimination Chamber” pay-per-view from their “Road to WrestleMania” lineup.
While the pay-per-view itself won’t be dropped entirely, the event will be renamed “Fast Lane” moving forward.
Dave Meltzer recently confirmed the report for F4WOnline.com, noting that while the change has yet to be officially made, WWE will indeed be making the necessary adjustments to its schedule.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE “Elimination Chamber” was originally set to take place on Feb. 22 in Memphis, Tennessee, leading one to believe that “Fast Lane” will be on the same date.
There are talks ongoing backstage of maybe even moving the “Elimination Chamber” event to a different date, possibly closer to “SummerSlam.”
The Elimination Chamber match itself could be used as a means to determine the No. 1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the biggest event of the summer.
Editor’s Note
I’ve never been a fan of gimmick-specific pay-per-view shows like “TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs” and “Hell in a Cell.” Those matches used to feel more important because you never knew when they were going to be booked. Since we now all know when they’ll be taking place, it kills the effect. Same goes for the Elimination Chamber.
