Daniel Bryan is currently scheduled to defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Bad News Barrett at WWE “Extreme Rules,” live on the WWE Network on April 26.
Unfortunately, due to many health concerns surrounding Bryan, there’s a very real possibility that the aforementioned bout gets scrapped from the card.
According to PWInsider.com, as of Sunday morning, Bryan was not in Illinois for the pay-per-view.
In an updated description for the title match, WWE claims that Bryan is undergoing testing to see if he can compete:
Daniel Bryan rose above six other Superstars to capture his first Intercontinental Championship in a Ladder Match at WrestleMania. However, if the ever-popular “Yes!” Man hopes to hold onto the title, he’ll have to get past the Superstar who lost the championship that day, Bad News Barrett, at Extreme Rules. Bryan is undergoing diagnostic testing to see if he can defend his title at Extreme Rules.
Both Michael Cole and JBL acknowledged on the April 20 edition of “Monday Night Raw” that Bryan’s title defense was in jeopardy.
Bryan was pulled from WWE’s recent European tour because his body was reportedly breaking down, with his neck being the biggest cause of concern and the source of most of his problems.
Editor’s Note
It would be a huge shame if Bryan had to vacate another title due to injury. If that’s the case, don’t be surprised if you see a Barrett vs. Neville IC Championship match on the pay-per-view instead.
