Would you be interested in playing as DC Comics superhero The Green Arrow in the upcoming “WWE 2K16” video game? Actor Stephen Amell, who portrays Oliver Queen on the CW series “Arrow,” is at least teasing that you may have the opportunity to do so.
A fan of Amell’s recently posted on his Facebook account that he would purchase the aforementioned video game if he could use The Green Arrow as a playable character. Amell issued the following response (image courtesy of nesn.com):
Per Pat Bradley of nesn.com:
“Amell historically keeps his word when he makes comments like this. It doesn’t mean that 2K or WWE will agree, but it wouldn’t come as any surprise if Amell actually were in talks with both companies to get something like this to happen.”
“He’s done video games before, and considering how seriously he’s taking this feud with Stardust, Amell definitely is fitting into the WWE Universe nicely. This seems like something that all sides should reasonably be interested in.”
This may be the only way the WWE Universe can get Amell as the character in the squared circle, though, as he recently confirmed in a Facebook video chat that he won’t be working “SummerSlam” as The Green Arrow.
The roster for “WWE 2K16” is set to have over 120 playable characters, leaving the door open for future downloadable content to possibly feature Amell if a deal is somehow struck.
The Lucha Dragons, Eva Marie, Booker T, Triple H, and several other superstars were recently confirmed by IGN.com. If you pre-order the next-gen game, you’ll be able to play actor Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator.
“WWE 2K16? is scheduled for release on Oct. 27 in North America and Oct. 30 in Europe for the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
Editor’s Note
I’m such a comics nerd, that playing as The Green Arrow would be beyond a cool experience. I’m not holding my breath, but I really hope something like this happens.
