WWE newcomer Rusev (formerly Alexander Rusev) has steamrolled his way through the WWE roster for several weeks now. Many fans have noticed how some of his opponents have one commonality: they’re African-American.
There could be a reason for this, according to Bryan Alverez of F4WOnline.com.
He’s been told by someone backstage in WWE that the company could be looking to do a new storyline that’s similar to the Nation of Domination faction from the mid-to-late nineties.
While the plan hasn’t been confirmed, it was in fact mentioned when R-Truth, Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and now Big E were brought up.
Rusev defeated both Truth and Woods in a handicap match at the “WWE Extreme Rules” special event. He then when on to beat Kingston the following night on “Monday Night Raw.”
Last week on the show, Rusev interrupted a segment by WWE Hall of Famer Jim Duggan. This resulted in Big E coming out to make the save.
Plans are now in motion for Rusev to face Big E at “WWE Payback” on June 1 in Chicago.
It’s been over 15 years since we’ve last seen the Nation of Domination in WWE. There’s no way of knowing if the name would return if the faction is restored. It’s merely speculation.
Editor’s Note
I could get behind this idea. The four aforementioned superstars are floating around in no-man’s land, so it would definitely give them something to do. I thought certain fans were acting absurd when bringing up the ethnicity of Rusev’s adversaries, but if this story gets some momentum behind it, I could be eating crow soon enough.
