In a recent interview with The Niagara Falls Review to promote an upcoming appearance at Niagara Falls Comic Con, WWE Hall of Famer and 16-time World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair gave his thoughts on the IWC (Internet Wrestling Community) and their input on making the current product and crop of superstars better:
I don’t pay any attention to that. The Internet thinks they’re smarter than we are, but they’re not. If you read the Internet, it’s like watching Fox News, you don’t know what to believe. They all want to predict what they think will happen, but nobody ever knows for sure. As an example, 42 years in the business and I never thought Daniel Bryan would win that match [against Triple H at WrestleMania XXX]. I never thought he was going to defeat Hunter, and I’m attuned to it
In the opening bout of WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans, Bryan defeated Triple H to earn a spot in the main event to challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
He then made Batista tap out in a triple threat match with Randy Orton to win the gold.
Editor’s Note
It’s not surprising to hear Flair downplay what goes on with the IWC and they’re impact (or lack thereof) on how WWE books. There’s absolutely no way WrestleMania XXX was going to end without Bryan standing tall, so as knowledgable as Flair is, he should have seen that coming from a mile away.
