The NXT Women’s Championship picture needs new faces in the fold with Sasha Banks, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch becoming permanent fixtures on the main roster.
Previous reports had indicated that WWE officials were looking to build up Eva Marie to make her a legitimate No. 1 contender for Bayley, having the two feud until “All Red Everything” eventually captured the belt.
There was reportedly a call this week for Eva Marie’s push to be slowed down, with more of an emphasis being pushed on Asuka and Dana Brooke as top challengers for Bayley.
WWE hopes that Bayley vs. Asuka matches can live up to the standards set by other Four Horsewomen bouts.
This will also give time for Eva Marie, Dana Brooke, and Alexa Bliss to improve in the ring so they too can enter the title picture.
Bayley will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Banks in a 30-minute Ironman match at “NXT TakeOver: Respect” at Full Sail University on Oct. 7.
Editor’s Note
Thank you for coming to your senses, WWE. Eva Marie has serious potential as a top heel, but her time is a while away. Asuka is the one who needs the push, especially since fans need to become more invested in her. Matches with Bayley will tear the house down.
