According to a report by PWInsider, Randy Orton, the current holder of the WWE Championship MITB briefcase, was attacked by a fan at a WWE Live Event in Cape Town, South Africa earlier today (July 30).
While posing on the turnbuckle following a victory over Big E. Langston, a crazed fan would jump the rail and strike Orton in the back/groin (conflicting reports on where he was struck). Orton kicked the fan away and gave him the middle finger, as security dragged him out of the ring.
The fan may have also attacked Big E. Langston, as well.
More members of security were later added to help assist with the remainder of the event.
There was supposed to be a meet and greet with WWE superstars following the show, but due to the incident, it did not happen.
UPDATE 19.42 ET
A video of the incident has emerged online. Taken by a fan, the footage shows a man attack Orton from behind with what appears to be a low blow. He is then escorted away by security. The video is a little sketchy, but does show the incident in full
