On January 4 at the Tokyo Dome, New Japan Pro Wrestling and Global Force Wrestling will proudly present “Wrestle Kingdom 9,” airing in North America on pay-per-view.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has been confirmed to be doing play-by-play commentary for the event, although his broadcast partner has yet to be officially revealed.
According to a report by Wrestlezone.com, they’ve received word that Jeff Jarrett has come to terms with former WWE superstar and commentator Matt Striker to be an analyst alongside Ross.
Striker currently does commentary for the Lucha Underground promotion.
Mike Tenay reportedly had a deal on the table to work the show, although TNA Impact Wrestling refused to let him accept it, citing GFW as their competition.
Other names that were rumored be working with Ross included Kevin Nash, Ron Neimi and former WWE superstar Renee Dupree (lives in Japan).
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship will be the main event. Jarrett, AJ Styles, The Young Bucks, reDRagon and Alex Shelly will all be competing as well.
Editor’s Note
Good get with Striker. Always been a fan of his behind the desk. His pairing with Ross should make an amazing night even better.
