At ROH’s “All-Star Extravaganza” iPPV on Sept. 6 in Toronto, a video package played hyping the return of Matt Sydal to the company.

Sydal, who recently competed for World Wrestling Entertainment as Evan Bourne, will be at ROH’s show on Sept. 27 in Wheeling, WV.
He had previously worked for the company from 2004 to 2007 before making his way through Dragon Gate, Wrestling Society X and eventually WWE. His only championship gold came as one-half of the ROH Tag Team Champions with “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels.
As one of many WWE cuts back in early-June, Sydal had a 90 day non-complete cause in his contract that prevented him from working for ROH Wrestling. The company had plans to bring him back a lot earlier before learning from WWE that he wouldn’t be able to do so until September.
That time has no passed and Sydal [real name: Matthew Korklan] can now step back in a ROH ring.
He’s worked several independent shows since his WWE release, including being a participant in PWG’s “Battle of Los Angeles” tournament. After a victory over Chris Hero, Sydal was eliminated by Kenny Omega in the following round.
Editor’s Note
ROH is where Matt Sydal belongs. He has more leeway to pull off maneuvers that made him such an indy sensation in the first place. There will be far less restrictions as it pertains to his in-ring work. I’m much looking forward to his first match back.
