Bryan was originally scheduled to defend his title against Bad News Barrett.
Because of Bryan’s absence, Barrett will now go one-on-one with Neville on the Kick-off show.
WWE first confirmed this past week that Bryan was undergoing tests to see if he could physically compete. This news confirms that those tests went poorly.
There’s no word yet on whether he will be stripped of his Intercontinental Championship. It was around this time last year when Bryan had to vacate the WWE World Heavyweight Championship because of a neck injury.
Editor’s Note
Well this blows chunks. There’s no way WWE doesn’t strip Bryan of the gold if this injury keeps him out for longer than a month. He was supposed to bring prestige back to the mid-card title, but unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that will be the case moving forward. Bryan needs to focus his attention on getting 100 percent healthy. That’s all that matters.
