In a recent interview with TampaBay.com to help promote his “Guardians of the Galaxy” film, WWE superstar Batista revealed that he and the creative team were not “seeing eye-to-eye” before his recent departure.

The following is a direct quote from the piece:

“I put it aside for now, and that really had a lot to do with my obligations to Marvel,” he said. “But it also had to do with the fact that (the WWE and I) weren’t seeing eye-to-eye, creatively. The stuff they were doing with story lines just didn’t make sense to me. … I’d love to go back. I’m a professional wrestler at heart and I miss it. But I want to be there and be happy with what I’m doing.”

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley agrees that Batista was not used effectively during his last stint:

He was simply the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time. Unfortunately for Dave Bautista (Batista), his return happened to be part of the perfect storm – the night WWE fans wanted Daniel Bryan – WWE Universe to walk out as the winner of the 2014 #RoyalRumble …and would settle for nothing less. The initial reaction – the pop – was there when Dave made his Rumble entrance; the WWE Universe was excited to see him. They just didn’t want anyone but Daniel Bryan to walk out of that match as the winner. Unfortunately, the fans directed their anger at Batista personally. And that’s wrong.

Shouldn’t we be happy for Batista? He left his bread and butter – the WWE – to pursue the bold new dream of acting. Now he’s landed a dream role, in a major motion picture – Marvel’s #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy and, yet. no one seems very happy for him.

Batista “quit” World Wrestling Entertainment on the June 2 edition of “Monday Night Raw”, although that was only used as a way to write him off television so he could do promotional work for his film.

He confirmed a fall return during a Wizard World Comic Con appearance back in June.

Editor’s Note

On the bright side, the huge popularity of “Guardians of the Galaxy” may mean more of a push and positive fan reaction when he eventually comes back to WWE.
