After current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey made an appearance for an in-ring segment at WrestleMania 31, many started to speculate over a possible match for the MMA fighter at WrestleMania 32 next year.
UFC President Dana White shot those dreams down, unfortunately, much to the dismay of wrestling fans dying to see her get in the squared circle.
In an interview with John Pollack of The Fight Network, White said point blank: ““What she did was awesome. I loved it. She’s a one and done. No.”
According to a report by F4WOnline.com, WWE officials are “stunned” to hear that White won’t allow Rousey to compete.
The hope was that Rousey could have a one-on-one match with Stephanie McMahon at the big event, but because of White’s comments, WWE may have to go in a different direction.
If Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson returns for a bout, WWE could always arrange to have Rousey be in his corner. That may be enough to win White over.
Editor’s Note
Well this blows. Rousey vs. Stephanie would have been a disaster. I was hoping for Rock/Rousey vs. Triple H/Stephanie in a mixed tag team match. That way, we could all suspend belief and enjoy ourselves instead of watching Rousey toy with Steph in a match that would seem stupid if it were to go beyond 13 seconds.
