The highly-acclaimed NXT tag team of The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor) will be heading to the main roster permanently with a Dec. 29 debut on “Monday Night Raw.”
WWE.com posted the following concerning their debut:
“This week on Raw, The Ascension will rise. The former NXT Tag Team Champions are poised to hit the ground running as they make their WWE debut, and we’re not sure if their first Raw opponents should be excited or terrified about what lies ahead. No matter what happens when these post-apocalyptic warriors stride down the entrance ramp, the entire roster — especially the tag team division — will be glued to the backstage monitors.”
With several top superstars set to miss the show due to WWE booking two separate shows that night, it makes perfect sense for a hot new team to appear to help draw interest.
The duo lost to Finn Balor and Hideo Itami at “NXT: R Evolution” on Dec. 11. The following Friday on “SmackDown,” vignettes began airing signifying their imminent arrival.
They’re the longest-reigning Tag Team Champions in the history of the brand, having held the straps for 364 days.
Editor’s Note
I’ve only been talking about this moment for forever and a half. Perhaps now the “Walder wants the Ascension to debut” jokes will end.
