He will be competing under the name Apollo Crews, which is seemingly a combination of the names Apollo Creed and Terry Crews.
Actor Terry Crews heard about the apparent name change of NXT’s newest acquisition, tweeting Apollo about it Thursday afternoon.
@ApolloCrews LOVE THE NEW NAME! Represent it WELL!

Terry Crews is no stranger to the squared circle himself, appearing as a cast member on the series “Battledome,” which once cross-promoted with World Championship Wrestling. He worked under the moniker T-Money.
WWE COO Triple H recently hyped Apollo’s debut on Twitter, with his opponent for “NXT Takeover: Brooklyn” still yet to be determined.
Editor’s Note
I see quite a few people on Facebook and Twitter aren’t a fan of the Apollo Crews name, which baffles me. You wanted him to stick with Uhaa Nation? That’s a courtesy only Samoa Joe can be afforded, apparently. Besides, Apollo must have been on board with his new name. As long as the performer is accepting, who are we to question it? All that matters is if he can go in the ring and be entertaining. I’m sure he’ll be just fine.
