On Monday’s RAW, Roman Reigns finally lost the US Title after basically never defending it because he was too busy fighting Kevin Owens for the Universal Title. Now, Chris Jericho is the US champ, and that’s fitting in a way. Jericho first made his name in the WCW, and the US Title is the last vestige of the WCW left in the WWE.

The United States Championship was brought over from WCW when the WWE bought it, and it now serves as the secondary belt on RAW, the equivalent of the Intercontinental Title. That’s not a bad place for a belt to end up. It’s certainly better than the TV Title’s fate.

Do you recall the TV Title? It was WCW’s tertiary title. After the World Championship and the US Championship came the TV Championship. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat held it a couple times. Booker T held it six times. It was not a terribly prestigious title, but it meant something…until the end.

Here’s how the TV Title lived out its final days. Scott Hall won the title at Mayhem, a pay-per-view that happened in November of 1999. One week later, on Monday Night Nitro, the WCW decided he should simply throw it in the trash. Yes, the WCW looked at the history of the belt, shrugged, and threw it in the garbage. This was not the end of the title, though. In February of 2000, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan found it in the garbage, and declared himself champion. At this time, Duggan was (kayfabe) working as a janitor. Yes, that is dumb. Yes, also apparently the WCW took its trash from city to city. He held the title for 54 days before the WCW retired the belt for good, but not before completely desecrating it. Hey, there are some worse things for a belt than being held by Roman Reigns.

Why do you think the WCW was taking its garbage around with them? Let us know in the comments, and check out the Wrestling Rumors Facebook page.
