Is Braun Strowman In Line For a Brock Lesnar-esque Push?

Only a handful of participants in this year’s Royal Rumble match have been named, with a couple of the entrants being particularly notable. Those two would be, of course, Goldberg and Brock Lesnar, two of WWE’s major part-timers. However, another of the entrants has been getting some major run recently, and that would be Braun Strowman.

Strowman has gotten a little more spotlight with the WWE tweeting out a video of when Lesnar and Strowman squared off in last year’s Royal Rumble match. Admittedly, it didn’t go super well for Strowman. The clip is mostly Lesnar dominating his fellow wrestlers in the ring, then going toe-to-toe with Strowman for a bit before eliminating him. That being said, the very fact the WWE is highlighting Strowman alongside Lesnar heading into Royal Rumble is probably a good sign for Strowman’s future.

While you would think Lesnar’s feud with Goldberg would take center stage, this feels like another step in pushing Strowman as a legit monster heel who could perhaps be a title contender someday, if not soon. Maybe namedropping Strowman alongside Lesnar is fitting, because Strowman could see himself getting pushed in a Lesnar-style fashion soon. At least, he could get pushed like an early Lesnar. Not the Lesnar who had success in MMA and started getting pushed as a “real” fighter. The WWE can’t rely on Lesnar and Goldberg long term. It would make sense for the WWE to see somebody like Strowman as a possible solution for the future.
