Roman Reigns is Good at Wrestling

People don’t like Roman Reigns. Well, some people do, but many do not. They despise him. They boo him mercilessly. He is arguably more polarizing than John Cena at this point. However, while Reigns may be a lightning rod for criticism, here you will find something rare on the dank recesses of the smark-laden internet; praise for Roman Reigns. He’s a good wrestler.

Now, this is not to say that Reigns is without fault and doesn’t deserve some of his criticism. I wouldn’t even necessarily consider myself a fan of Reigns. Some of the criticism comes from fans who feel Reigns has been shoved down their throats, that he was pushed too far too fast. Perhaps there is some validation to that, but it doesn’t bother me too much.

On the other hand, Reigns is such a bore from a personality perspective. He’s awful on the mic, and somehow he’s even worse when he tries to show personality. When he was joking around during his feud with Rusev it was a snoozefest. Keeping him off the mic is definitely smart.

That being said, when he’s actually wrestling, Reigns is good. He’s big and strong, obviously, but he’s pretty fast and agile. Reigns is adept in the ring, and he works well with others. Despite the fact he’s built up to be a monster, he will still sell, until it’s time for him to go into beast mode, but even a beloved figure like Seth Rollins is guilty of that. Yeah, the end of his matches tend to get a little repetitive, and the spear is a boring finisher, but that’s not really his fault.

So yeah, when Reigns gets a mic in his hands, I may think about changing the channel, or at least muting it, but when he’s in action, I don’t mind it at all. Maybe all he needs is a Paul Heyman-esque mouthpiece. Maybe then fans will stop booing him. Just kidding, of course. Once fans decide they hate somebody, it’s hard to convince them otherwise.
