As we previously reported, Ezekiel Jackson is no longer contractually tied to WWE. Many assumed Jackson was released by WWE, however Jackson noted that WWE simply did not renew his contract. It appears that this will be WWE’s mindset going forward when it comes to the contracts of talents, who no longer appear much, if at all, for WWE.
In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the newsletter reports the word going around is that WWE will not be releasing a lot of these inactive talents. The only cases in which WWE will release someone is if it needs to occur due to disciplinary reasons, or if the talent is in developmental. Instead, talents like JTG, who have WWE contracts but are no longer used, will not have their contract renewed when it expires.
On the April 7 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” WWE made a big leap in turning the page to a new chapter in company history. Paige won the Divas Championship in her debut, Alexander Rusev debuted, and vignettes aired for NXT stars such as Bo Dallas and Adam Rose. Because of this, in addition to pushes being given to younger talents like Cesaro, many assumed that WWE would begin to release a plethora of inactive talents. However, as the report states, it appears this will not be the case.
Editor’s Note
I’m a bit surprised by WWE’s decision making here, but I do believe this is the right move. WWE should honor its current contracts and simply not renew any contracts of the talents who the company no longer wishes to use.
