As we previously reported, shortly before WrestleMania XXX, WWE may be bringing in one of the top-international stars, Prince Devitt, following the grand spectacle. Now, according to PWInsider, it appears that WWE and Prince Devitt have come to terms on a deal, which would bring the former New Japan Wrestling star to WWE.
The website is reporting that Devitt will be reporting to WWE developmental facilities in Orlando, Fla. soon after his work visa is approved. Now that he is signed, it is possible that Devitt begins working in developmental at some point in the next month or two.
Devitt, real name Fergal Devitt, was born in Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland. He began working in New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2006, when he was 24 years old. Now 32, Devitt has achieved many accomplishments with arguably the number-one international promotion. He is a three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, in addition to a six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion.
On April 7, the same day as the post-WrestleMania edition of “Monday Night Raw,” New Japan Pro Wrestling announced Devitt’s resignation from the company.
Editor’s Note
WWE is definitely getting a potential main event talent in Devitt, depending on how the company utilizes him, of course. Expect him to remain in developmental for quite some period of time, before debuting on the main WWE roster.
