At the “TLC” pay-per-view on Dec. 14, Dolph Ziggler defeated Luke Harper to become WWE Intercontinental Champion for the fourth time. Unfortunately for Ziggler, his fourth run with the title would be short lived. Less than a month later, on the Jan. 5 showing of “Monday Night Raw,” Ziggler dropped the belt to Bad News Barrett thanks in large part to The Authority. On that same show, Ziggler, alongside Erick Rowan and Ryback, were fired by The Authority.
A recent report from Reddit user MetsFan4Ever, a self-claimed former WWE employee who has become a reliable source for WWE news, has shed some light on why Ziggler dropped the belt to Barrett so quickly. According to the user, Ziggler garnered some heat within WWE for booking a comedy show separate from his work in WWE sometime in late 2014 to early 2015.
However, Ziggler, in addition to Ryback and Erick Rowan, are expected to be back on WWE programming by the “Royal Rumble.” One rumored idea would see Ryback, Rowan, and Ziggler run an “invasion” angle on the Jan. 19 showing of “Monday Night Raw,” the go-home show to the “Royal Rumble.”

Sound familiar? This is exactly what CM Punk referenced in his podcasts regarding his WWE exit. Such a shame.
