As we previously reported, WWE decided not to sign Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards to a developmental deal reportedly due to Triple H’s belief that the current WWE roster had enough guys with a small stature. Wrestling Observer has now updated its previous report with more information on WWE’s decision.

According to Wrestling Observer, a blown spot in their debut match may have played a role into the two not being offered contracts. While going against The Ascension, there was reportedly a spot where Richards landed on his head, which was accidental.

This occurred because earlier that day, when the two teams were working on the match, Viktor of The Ascension picked up Richards without dipping down. Then during the actual match, Viktor dipped down first while Richards went up which led to the former losing control and Richards landing on his head.

After the mishap, the referee told the teams to finish the match right away under orders from Triple H. However, the two teams did not finish it right away. There has been no confirmation if this played a role in WWE’s decision, but it may very well could have.
