In a recent interview with wrestling scribe Bill Apter, former WWE star Alberto Del Rio, now known as El Patrón Alberto, revealed that he will be signing deals with two separate wrestling promotions to appear on television. Del Rio recently hashed things out with WWE, leading to a joint statement by the two sides and a settlement. With the settlement, Del Rio is now able to wrestle and appear for American based wrestling organizations. In turn, on Saturday, Nov. 15, Del Rio and his former manager in WWE, Ricardo Rodriguez, appeared at Tommy Dreamer’s “House of Hardcore VII.”
PWInsider has provided an update on Del Rio’s interview with Apter, revealing what two promotions Del Rio is set to work with. According to the website, Del Rio will not only join AAA and its “Lucha Underground” series, but he is also slated to sign a deal with TNA.
Additionally, the website noted that Del Rio, himself, was informing people that he would be working for TNA and “Lucha Underground,” beginning in 2015. Del Rio made his plans clear during his recent tour of the Northeast, which included the aforementioned appearance at “House of Hardcore VII.” For now, there is no word on how Del Rio will be able to be contractually tied to two separate wrestling promotions.
Editor’s Note
Wow. I did not expect Del Rio to end up in TNA, unlike “Lucha Underground.” If the report is indeed true, you would have to think TNA is confident in having a television deal locked up for 2015.
