At the time of this writing, WWE is currently airing “Main Event” live on the WWE Network. During the show, two important singles matches were added to the “Night of Champions” pay-per-view match card.
In one bout, Roman Reigns will go one-on-one with Seth Rollins. It will be the first time the two former Shield members go at it on the big stage, since the group’s following out.
The other match will see Chris Jericho go up against Randy Orton. Throughout the past couple of weeks of WWE programming, the two have clashed; as they both think they are WWE World Heavyweight Champion material. Following his brutal Steel Cage match on the Sept. 8 “Monday Night Raw,” Jericho was attacked by Orton.
Early on during the build to “Night of Champions,” many fans expected these four men would be involved in different matches. It was assumed that Chris Jericho and Bray Wyatt would have a rubber match. However, as previously noted, the two duked it out on the Sept. 8 showing of “Monday Night Raw.”
Also, two more “SummerSlam” rematches were expected to occur: Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins and Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns. Like Jericho vs. Wyatt, the latter occurred on “Monday Night Raw.” Due to Dean Ambrose’s involvement in WWE Studios’ “Lockdown,” he had to be written off of television during the build to the pay-per-view. While Ambrose is not advertised for a match, he may still have a presence at the pay-per-view, as he is slated to appear on the first “Raw” after “Night of Champions.”
