On Saturday, May 2, undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. will face Manny Pacquiao in what may go down as the biggest and highest-grossing boxing match in history. In preparation for the fight, Bleacher Report spoke to WWE COO Triple H, who has been part of Mayweather’s entourage on numerous occasions.
“The King of Kings” talked about getting to walk Mayweather to the ring for a 2012 fight against Miguel Cotto:
“Walking him to the ring, it was a trip. To sit there with Floyd, the greatest boxer of his generation, to be around him while he was in his dressing room warming up, it’s amazing to be around somebody at that high a level and see what they go through.”
“To me, one of the coolest things was to sit and listen to his Uncle Roger talking game plan with him, while he was warming up, and then watching him execute exactly what they discussed.”
Additionally, Triple H hit on Mayweather’s involvement with WWE at WrestleMania XXIV:
“When I was working out with Floyd to get him ready for WrestleMania, his whole crew would be there. He always has 4,000 people around him. He’s got a huge entourage, and he would be laughing and everybody carrying on.”
“And there would be that moment when we’d say, ‘OK, let’s get started,’ and he’d say, ‘Everybody out,’ and everyone who didn’t need to be there would leave, and no one made a peep. He was laser-focused. Mentally he was like a trap. We’d work on something, I wouldn’t see him for two weeks and he’d remember exactly what I had said. To be honest, it was super easy to get him ready.”
