On Tuesday, April 22, WWE taped the April 25 edition of “WWE Smackdown” in Hershey, Pa. at the Giant Center.
Below are the spoilers for the April 22 edition of “WWE Smackdown:”
The show began with Vickie Guerrero, Paul Heyman, Zeb Colter, Jack Swagger, and Cesaro in the ring. Vickie took the time to announce the main event, pitting The Shield up against many WWE Superstars. She then revealed that a debate will take place between Paul Heyman and Zeb Colter right now.
To kick off the debate, Colter wanted to debate about Cesaro turning on him, asking Heyman why he stole Cesaro from him. Heyman ignored him, instead reiterating that Brock Lesnar conquered The Streak. Colter persisted, but Heyman instead asked Colter when was the last time one of his guys won, informing Colter that Cesaro was a “Paul Heyman Guy” when he won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Zeb then pushed over the podiums, which were set up for the debate, in addition to shoving Heyman. The two began to battle, but were broken up to close the segment.
1) Cesaro def. Jack Swagger- Cesaro picked up the victory with his “Neutralizer.” After the match, The Shield came out and attacked Swagger. Reigns hit his Superman punch on Swagger, leading to the trio hitting Swagger with its triple powerbomb. Dean Ambrose then grabbed the microphone, saying Swagger failed to adapt.
2) Tamina Snuka def. Natalya
A backstage segment with 3MB then aired. The group boasted about being in the main event, but were then pummeled by The Shield.
Another backstage segment, this time with Vickie Guerrero, aired. She was on the phone with Triple H, who inquired about The Shield. Vickie told WWE’s COO that she called The Shield into her office, but they did not show up. Triple H then told her to take the night off, as Brad Maddox entered.
3) Curtis Axel def. Jey Uso
The Wyatt Family come out to cut a promo, while stood inside a steel cage. Bray Wyatt talks about John Cena and got the crowd to join him in singing, “he’s got the whole world in his hands.”
4) Erick Rowan and Luke Harper def. Cody Rhodes and Goldust- During the match, Bray taunted the crowd, asking them if they were unimpressed by the Rhodes brothers, who Wyatt said are not the future. The match ended after Cody went for a moonsault, only for Goldust to run into him. This caused Goldust to get upset, which ended up being his downfall, as he was pinned.
Another backstage segment aired. This one was with Brad Maddox, who is now in charge for the night. While on the phone, The Shield entered his office, attacking him.
5) Emma and Santino vs. Layla and Fandango failed to happen- The match failed to start because while Fandango is on stage dancing, The Shield attacked him. The trio then gave Fandango a triple powerbomb off the stage through two tables. The maneuver led to a “this is awesome” chant from the crowd.
6) The Shield def. Titus O’Neil, Ryback, Alberto Del Rio, Damien Sandow, Bad News Barrett and Curtis Axel- The Shield cleared the ring of everyone, except Barrett who escaped to the back. During the match, Axel was on the receiving end of a Superman punch from Roman Reigns. Reigns would pick up the win for his team with a spear on Sandow, but Reigns also speared Titus and Ryback. After the match The Shield stood tall, as they hit a triple powerbomb on Ryback.
