On Tuesday, Sept. 2, WWE taped the Sept. 5 edition of “Smackdown” from the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb. Thanks to Derek of NoCoastBias.com for providing us with the coming spoilers.
Below are the spoilers for the Sept. 5 edition of “Smackdown:”
Prior to going on the air, Titus O’Neil would lose twice to Adam Rose during the dark matches. He was first defeated by a roll-up pin, immediately demanding a rematch, which he would also lose.
“Smackdown” begins with John Cena’s return to “Smackdown,” as he cuts a promo on his match against Brock Lesnar at “Night of Champions.” He talks about being a fighter, and why people should not doubt him. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion would soon be interrupted by Kane and Seth Rollins. In turn, Roman Reigns enters, then The Wyatt Family. With the stage already packed, Chris Jericho’s music plays, and he and WightChocolate (Big Show and Mark Henry) enter. Finally, Triple H enters. He makes a massive 10-men main event. John Cena, Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns, Big Show, and Mark Henry will take on The Wyatt Family, Kane, and Seth Rollins.
1) Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler def. Cesaro- In this non-title bout, United States Champion Sheamus is ringside. In a tight bout, Ziggler prevails with a reversal into a roll-up pin. After the match, Cesaro tries to attack Ziggler, but Sheamus is able to make the save.
An obscure promo is cut by Stardust and Goldust on The Usos in regards to “Night of Champions.”
2) Jimmy Uso def. Heath Slater- Jimmy picks up the win with a splash. The injured Jey Uso is ringside on crutches, in addition to Titus O’Neil, the other half of SlaterGator.
Lana and Rusev issue a challenge to Mark Henry for “Night of Champions.” The former world champion accepts the challenge, making the match official.
3) Divas Champion Paige def. Brie Bella- In the non-title bout, AJ Lee and Nikki Bella are ringside on commentary. The two commentators would end up brawling, distracting Brie. The distraction allowed Paige to pick up the victory with the “RamPaige.”
Bray Wyatt cuts a promo on Chris Jericho, who he will face in a Steel Cage match on the Sept. 8 showing of “Monday Night Raw.”
4) Bo Dallas def. Zack Ryder- Dallas “squashes” Ryder, and cuts a post-match promo on Jack Swagger. Swagger appears, brawling with Dallas.
5) John Cena, Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho, Mark Henry, and Big Show vs. The Wyatt Family, Kane, and Seth Rollins ends in chaos- Early on in the match, Seth Rollins gets in a lot of offense, tagging in Bray Wyatt next. Though he has still not entered the ring, Cena is receiving his usual dueling chants of “Let’s Go Cena” and “Cena Sucks!” Reigns is in next for the babyfaces, surprisingly getting little offense in. Upon entering the match, Jericho, too, is unable to get in much offense. Towards the end of the match, Cena finally gets himself inserted, leading to all hell breaking loose, upon him slapping the “STF” on Rollins. The ten men brawl, leading to the match ending in chaos. In the end, the babyface team stands tall to close the show.
