Through the past year or two, The Undertaker’s in-ring career continued to seem that it would be coming to an end. Taker’s status for both WrestleMania 29 and WrestleMania XXX were up in the air in the months prior to the events, but he would end up working them.
Though, with the way WrestleMania XXX ended for The Undertaker, the WWE Universe may have seen his last match. His historied undefeated streak at WrestleMania was conquered by Brock Lesnar at the 30th annual WrestleMania. Even further, Taker suffered debilitating injuries throughout his match, which caused him to be rushed to a hospital.
Many have speculated that Taker’s in-ring career is indeed over, as he has begun to be seen in public more often. He recently appeared for WWE at a Wizard World Comic Con event, and his wife, former WWE Diva Michelle McCool, has posted many pictures of what Taker is up to via Instagram.
A recent report by PWInsider reveals that The Undertaker has taken on a new role in WWE, which will likely lead to more speculation that he is finished as an active competitor. According to the website, Taker was in attendance for the latest NXT WWE Network tapings on Thursday, Oct. 23.
At the tapings, Taker was reportedly telling people that he will be working in developmental territory NXT as an “advisor” going forward. Within WWE, the word is that he will be in Orlando, Florida, the location of the WWE Performance Center, on a limited basis. While he is there, he will be giving advice, in addition to helping out WWE’s stars of the future.
Editor’s Note
Nice to see that Taker will be helping out in developmental. It remains to be seen if Taker will end up working one more match, but it continues to seem highly unlikely.
