Yahoo! Sports has recently published an article about Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee possibly looking at a WWE career down the road. McAfee once wrestled in 2009 during an independent show in West Virginia against War Pig.
Below is footage from McAfee’s match against War Pig in IWA East Coast Wrestling:
McAfee’s friend and former Colts teammate Tom Pestock currently wrestles in NXT as Baran Corbin. Pestock had a short NFL career as an offensive guard for the Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals.
Pestock said the following regarding McAfee’s eyeing of a wrestling career:
“We talked about how much we enjoyed watching it and what we loved about it. We just told each other it was something we wanted to get to when that path ended… I’m sure he’ll try to do something when he’s done. We knew a lockout was potentially in the future, so we said we’re going to go to wrestling school.”
Triple H also spoke to Yahoo! Sports about the people that he takes in for developmental work:
“I will take someone with charisma and desire over anything else. It’s hard to teach someone how to be charismatic. You ever met that person who has something about them? That’s the biggest factor, I think. Nobody pays to just see a wrestler. You pay to see superstars.”
McAfee said in the article that he had modeled his “whole personality” after The Rock. McAfee even has a finishing maneuver in his mind that would act as a “million-dollar leg drop.” The move would see him climb to the top rope, leap off, and drop his “money maker” onto an opponent in the center of the ring.
A video of McAfee delivering a “Stone Cold Stunner” in the Colts’ locker room can be seen here.
