On Monday, April 28, the final edition of “Monday Night Raw” before the 2014 edition of the “Extreme Rules” event occurred. Once again, WWE faced stiff competition as both the NHL and NBA playoffs continued its games for the first round of play. However, WWE’s numbers greatly improved from last week, increasing by almost 11 percent.
According to TvByTheNumbers.com, the April 28 showing of the program averaged 4,512,000 viewers, as opposed to last week’s average of just 4,139,000. The hour breakdowns for the program did not follow its usual pattern, as the first hour garnered the least amount of viewers, averaging 4,512,000. Viewership then increased for the second hour, which averaged 4,667,000 viewers. There was then just a slight decrease for the third and final hour, which obtained 4,652,000 viewers for WWE.
In fact, WWE and the NBA playoffs shared the night in terms of ratings for adults aged 18-49. Both “Monday Night Raw” and an NBA playoff game on TNT obtained a rating of 1.8 for the specific demographic.
Editor’s Note
The substantial increase in viewership for a go-home show is certainty good news for WWE, considering the fact that it faced stiff competition. Additionally, its numbers are still strong as WrestleMania XXX is way back in the rear-view mirror.
