While “Monday Night Raw” was on the air, the 2014 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby kicked off from Target Field in Minneapolis, Minn. The event would wrap up following “Raw” going off the air, as a familiar face, Oakland Athletics outfielder Yoenis Céspedes, won the event for the second consecutive year.
Last year, Céspedes bested Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals in the final round by just one home run. In total, Céspedes hit 32 dingers in his 2013 run. Following his victory, Céspedes celebrated with not only the trophy for winning the event, but also the WWE Championship:
WWE.com picked up on Céspedes’ victory, posting video of his celebration from the 2013 Home Run Derby.
This time around, in 2014, Céspedes conquered Todd Frazier of the Cincinnati Reds in the final round. Unlike 2013, Céspedes easily defeated his counterpart from the National League. In the round, Céspedes cracked nine home runs, overpowering Frazier’s one.
Once again, Céspedes won the Home Run derby for the American League, but he also busted out the WWE Championship for the second consecutive year.
Below is video of Céspedes with the WWE Championship:

Editor’s Note
I love how WWE gaining mainstream popularity is becoming more and more common. It’s neat to see Céspedes bust out the title again. When he goes for the three-peat in 2015, I’m sure it will be alongside him again.
