Former WCW and TNA Champion Sting has been officially announced as the pre-order bonus for WWE’s upcoming video game release, “WWE 2K15.”

As previously reported, a commercial was filmed by 2K Sports featuring a “Sting orchestra” playing a version of the man called Sting’s “Crow” theme song that he used in World Championship Wrestling. That commercial aired as the announcement during the July 14 edition of “Monday Night Raw.” Soon after the advertisement ran on television, 2K’s official Twitter account tweeted that Sting was now “in WWE,” as well as merely a part of the upcoming video game.

Sting had previously teased something for “7.14.14” on Twitter and Facebook, leading everyone to wonder if the “something” would have to do with WWE and “Monday Night Raw.” As it turned out, the advertisement featured below was what Sting was promoting.

This is the first official WWE involvement featuring Sting. Even though the former WCW champion appeared during video segments during “Warrior Week” after the tragic passing of WWE Hall of Famer, and Sting’s former tag team partner the Ultimate Warrior, Sting otherwise has never been promoted by WWE.

Soon after the commercial aired during “Monday Night Raw,” WWE tweeted via their official Twitter account that Sting would be part of the game, using the moniker “The man called Sting.” WrestlingRumors.net previously reported that the company is currently creating WWE merchandise featuring Sting and this exact moniker, which the company acquired when they purchased WCW in 2001.

He’s now a special character for the next video game, which leads to many questions, such as has Sting signed a WWE Legends deal, and will we ever see Sting in a WWE ring?

“WWE 2K15” will be released in the United States on Oct. 28, and world-wide on Oct. 31.

Editor’s Note:
