WWE aired another edition of its flagship program, “Monday Night Raw,” on May 4. The show featured more build to the company’s next pay-per-view “Payback,” which had its main event changed during “Monday Night Raw.” Additionally, the show, which emanated from Montreal, featured a surprise appearance from hometown fan favorite Sami Zayn. The former NXT Champion faced John Cena for the United States Championship, putting on a tremendous showing despite an injured shoulder.
Despite the show being well-received, viewership numbers for the May 4 “Monday Night Raw” were not stellar. According to TVByTheNumbers.com, the show obtained an average of 3.57 million viewers, the lowest figure since late December of 2014. Compared to last week’s mark of 3.76 million, viewership was down five percent.
Below is the hourly viewership breakdown for the May 4 episode of “Monday Night Raw:”
Hour 1: 3.422 million viewers
Hour 2: 3.709 million viewers
Hour 3: 3.588 million viewers
For the night, “Monday Night Raw” was the second most-viewed cable program, trailing only the NBA Playoffs. Though, in terms of ratings for adults aged 18-49, WWE came in third for the night, as it obtained a rating of 1.2.
Editor’s Note
The number is certainly a bit surprising, seeing as the episode of “Raw” was one of the best, perhaps the best, showing of “Raw” in all of 2015.
