On the May 18 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” Lana, once Rusev’s manager, seemingly turned babyface when the two split. Later on during “Raw” and again on “Smackdown,” Lana would instead be by the side of Dolph Ziggler, giving him support in his matches. Both Rusev and Ziggler will do battle at “Elimination Chamber” on May 31, inside the chamber structure in a match for the vacant Intercontinental Championship.
Though, over the weekend, at its live events, WWE deviated from its storyline programming. Results for a May 22 WWE live event in Manchester, New Hampshire, courtesy of PWInsider, would see Lana come to the aid of Rusev.
In the main event of the night, United States Champion John Cena squared off against Rusev in a Steel Cage match. At one point in the match, Lana made her way ringside, allowing Rusev to obtain the upper-hand on Cena. Lana continued to observe from afar, as an infuriated Rusev almost let Cena escape the cage. Later on, Lana would make her presence known. She knocked out the WWE official serving as the gatekeeper, and would eventually proceed to slam the cell door on Cena. Lana then walked to the back, with a smile on her face. Still, in the end, Cena reigned supreme over Rusev.
Editor’s Note
Interesting. Perhaps Lana realigns herself with Rusev at “Elimination Chamber,” costing Ziggler a chance at victory?
