The final title match and presumably final bout for the pay-per-view portion of the 2014 “Hell in a Cell” event was made official during WWE’s “Smackdown” tapings on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler will look to retain his title in a two out of three falls match against Cesaro.
During the taping of “Smackdown,” which will air on Friday, Oct. 24, Dolph Ziggler defeated Cesaro in a title match by the way of pinfall, with his “Zig Zag.” Following the bout, it would be made official that Ziggler and Cesaro would duke it out at “Hell in a Cell” in a two out of three falls match.
The two have now traded victories through the last week of WWE programming prior to the “Hell in a Cell” pay-per-view. Before Ziggler bested Cesaro on “Smackdown,” on the Oct. 20 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” Cesaro defeated Ziggler cleanly in a non-title singles match.
Ziggler is currently on his third reign as Intercontinental Champion. Despite dropping the title back to The Miz at “Night of Champions,” the next night on the Sept. 22 showing of “Monday Night Raw,” Ziggler defeated Miz to reclaim his championship gold.
Cesaro, on the other hand, is looking to build some momentum on the grand stage. Cesaro unsuccessfully challenged for Sheamus’ United States Championship on multiple occasions at “Payback” and “Night of Champions,” and then turned his attention to Ziggler.
Editor’s Note
While the story may not be there, this is going to be a tremendous match that can very well steal the show at “Hell in a Cell.”
