Around the time of American Thanksgiving, CM Punk shocked the wrestling world with his appearance on Colt Cabana’s “Art of Wrestling” podcast. Punk gave a tell-all story surrounding his WWE departure from January of 2014.
Perhaps the biggest talking point from Punk’s story was his shaky health status leading up to his departure from WWE. He recalled numerous occasions of WWE mistreating him, mentioning WWE Dr. Chris Amann by name. The “Best in the World” ripped Amann for misidentifying what turned out to be a deadly staph infection, and simply giving him Z-Pak to take for his ailment.
In response to Punk’s comments, WWE Dr. Chris Amann has decided to file a lawsuit against Punk, real name Phil Brooks, and Colt Cabana, real name Scott Colton. The Cook County Record in Illinois broke the story, revealing Amann is seeking more than one million dollars in compensatory damages. Additionally, Amann is looking for an undetermined amount of punitive damages due to his belief that Punk’s actions were so harsh.
Amann noted that his lawsuit stems from Punk’s claims about him, which he said are completely untrue and false. According to Amann and his legal team, Cabana is included on the lawsuit due to him letting Punk ramble on, therefore playing a role in what transpired.
Editor’s Note
What a joke. I hope Punk’s lawyers, the same ones that cleaned WWE out, get rid of this immediately. Amann should be happy he still has a job. Suing for punitive damages is an even bigger joke because Punk’s conduct was not shockingly bad, and only affected Amann, nobody else.
