As previously reported, Brock Lesnar will be appearing at a WWE live event for the first time in more than 10 years in July. Through its Japanese website and social media platforms, WWE advertised Lesnar for a July 4 house show in Tokyo, Japan at Ryougoku Sumo Hall. Not only will Lesnar be making an appearance, but he is slated to wrestle Kofi Kingston. For Lesnar, a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, this will be his first match in Japan in almost 10 years.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline recently provided an update on the story, providing some reasoning behind the move. According to Meltzer, Lesnar was planning a trip to Japan in order to visit Masa Saito, a retired Japanese wrestler and two-time WWE World Tag Team Champion. Lesnar will also be alongside friend and former trainer Brad Rheingans to visit Saito.

Because of his plans to go to Japan, Lesnar reportedly wanted to make the most of his time in the country. He decided to work one house show for WWE, as a way to make the trip tax deductible, and also get his transportation paid for.

Meltzer wrote:

“Lesnar and Brad Rheingans wanted to go to Japan to see Masa Saito. Just figured since he was going anyway, make it tax deductible, get his trans paid, and work one show.”
