Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar was written off of WWE programming on the March 30 showing of “Monday Night Raw,” which occurred the day after WrestleMania 31. A distraught Lesnar launched a tirade on the program upon Seth Rollins, the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, backing out of a title match. One of the principal owners of WWE, Stephanie McMahon, promptly “suspended” Lesnar indefinitely for his actions.
Within the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, written by Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline, some backstage news surrounding Lesnar’s eventual WWE return is presented. According to Meltzer, WWE’s plan from March 30 would see Lesnar and his advocate Paul Heyman remain off of WWE programming for several months. The duo would likely return to WWE programming in July or August, setting up a match for Lesnar at “SummerSlam.”
Though, it is also possible that WWE decides to bring back Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman earlier than planned, seeing as Lesnar is perhaps WWE’s biggest attraction at the moment. Lesnar’s new deal with WWE is very similar to his past deal, with very few dates and items added. Therefore, if Lesnar were to return earlier than planned, WWE would either have to eat other potential appearances for Lesnar, or pay him more money on a per date deal.
Editor’s Note
It’s a shame that Lesnar will likely be off of WWE programming until “SummerSlam” time. Though, when he does return, he will be the company’s biggest babyface.
