WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar has not been on WWE programming since late September, and will likely not be returning until December. Lesnar has been advertised to appear on the Dec. 9 showing of “Monday Night Raw,” which is the “go-home” show to the “TLC” pay-per-view. His status for “Raw” has led to reports that Lesnar will be facing John Cena for a third time in 2014 at the December pay-per-view. Lesnar’s most recent match was on Sept. 21 at the “Night of Champions” pay-per-view, in which he retained his title in a match against Cena thanks in large part to interference from Seth Rollins.
His status for “TLC” is in the air, as it remains much more likely that Lesnar will face Cena at the 2015 “Royal Rumble” instead. Lesnar’s “part-time” status may even see him miss WWE’s pay-per-view in February, as the company has reportedly pushed “Elimination Chamber” back to June due to Lesnar being its main champion.
If Lesnar is indeed not slated to wrestle in February, it would be difficult for WWE to have an Elimination Chamber match at the gimmick pay-per-view. With just one world championship, and the “Royal Rumble” taking place the month prior, WWE could not have an Elimination Chamber match in which a number-one contender is crowned to face Lesnar at WrestleMania 31.
Despite it looking like Lesnar will not wrestle in February, he has been added to advertisements for an edition of “Monday Night Raw” in that month. According to PWInsider, Lesnar is being advertised for the Feb. 9 showing of “Raw” in Columbus, Ohio. These advertisements are running locally in the Columbus area. As of Nov. 13, Lesnar is not advertised for this event on WWE.com, or the website of the Schottenstein Center, the location of the show.
Editor’s Note
I doubt Lesnar is going to wrestle in February, but it’s interesting to see him added to a “Raw” in the month. He’ll likely be there to kickstart his program with whoever he faces at WrestleMania 31.
