Smashing Pumpkins frontman and co-founder of Illinois based wrestling promotion Resistance Pro Billy Corgan recently made headlines when he joined TNA. In late April, TNA announced that Corgan will begin putting in work for the company as a Senior Producer. His job involves working as part of the TNA creative team, where he will work closely with the company’s talent.
Within the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer discussed Corgan’s arrival in TNA. His report included tidbits of backstage information regarding how Corgan has been received within the company.
According to Meltzer, many within TNA are genuinely surprised with the work that Corgan has done in a short amount of time. This came following Corgan’s work at recent TNA tapings in Orlando on May 10. Many TNA talent felt that the addition of Corgan was a publicity stunt, and he would simply serve as a puppet. However, that hasn’t been the case, as Corgan is reportedly putting in a lot of time and effort.
Specifically, Corgan was praised for having an interest in the product, looking to learn what he could. Corgan was very approachable to TNA stars, giving them thoughts and suggestions. Additionally, he was lauded for arriving at the tapings with knowledge of current TNA characters and storylines.
