As seen on the June 9 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” Daniel Bryan was stripped of his WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Due to his inability to compete at “Money in the Bank,” a new champion will be crowned at the event in a seven man ladder match.
On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed what kind of impact Bryan’s forfeiture of the title will have on him down the road. Meltzer noted that upon Bryan’s return, he will remain in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture. In fact, he went as far to say the “long-term destination is still what the old destination was.”
Continuing, Meltzer reported that long-term plans still call for Bryan to be champion later on in 2014. He noted that these plans remained in place as of “yesterday,” which would be June 9.
However, Meltzer did reveal that if Bryan is not able to return by “SummerSlam,” a lot of plans will have to be changed for various members of the WWE roster. Plans would have to change because Bryan is slated to face none other than Brock Lesnar at the event, as we previously reported.
Editor’s Note
Hopefully WWE does keep its previous plans in-tact for Bryan. While the injury is unfortunate, Bryan could very well return hotter than ever, and appear to not have missed a beat.
