Over the past couple of years, Christian has unfortunately been plagued by injuries, stopping his pursuits of some of WWE’s most glorified championships. Most recently, Christian returned in late January of 2014. In his return match, he was able to qualify for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at “Elimination Chamber.” After coming up short, he set his eyes on the Intercontinental Championship. Unfortunately, during his pursuit, he sustained a concussion and has not been back in the ring since.
The latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter sheds some light on Christian’s future with the company. Following his concussion, and even beforehand, talk within WWE was to not have Christian wrestle frequently. However, there are still people in the company that would like Christian to work a different role.
After his contract as a wrestler expires, these people want to hire Christian as a producer or agent. Many other past WWE Superstars have made the transition from the ring to the production role such as Road Dogg, Finlay, and Irwin R. Schyster.
Coincidentally, today, Thursday, May 29, you can catch Christian on the pre-show panel of “NXT Takeover.”
Editor’s Note
I do think it would be best for Christian’s in-ring career to come to an end soon. Perhaps a production or agent position would be best, so the blue dot can be put away.
