On Monday, Stephanie McMahon announced that there will be a women’s Royal Rumble match at the upcoming Royal Rumble pay-per-view on January 28, where the winner will receive a shot at their respective brand’s championship at WrestleMania 34.
According to Cageside Seats, there will be 30 participants in the women’s Royal Rumble. As of this writing, there are only 22 women on WWE’s main roster, so if they are doing a 30-woman Rumble, there will probably be some surprises, and a few NXT call-ups.
One of those surprises may end up being Trish Stratus, who said the following on Twitter regarding the match:
There's NOTHING @WWE women cannot do. It's been a long-time coming – can't wait for the FIRST EVER WOMENS #RoyalRumble! Now…where dem boots?

Trish was originally supposed to return at last year’s NXT Takeover: Toronto show to challenge Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship, but prior to the match taking place, she announced that she was pregnant, and WWE replaced her with Mickie James.
While Trish may return for the women’s Royal Rumble, she probably won’t win it, as Ronda Rousey could make her debut in the match, win it, and then challenge whoever the Raw Women’s Champion is at the time (presumably Asuka) at WrestleMania 34.
