As of right now, it looks like Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose will be in tag team action at SummerSlam, as they’ll likely end up facing The Miz, Curtis Axel, and Bo Dallas in a three-on-two handicap match. But, there’s a small chance that the match could end up being a lot more significant than it sounds.
Next week, Roman Reigns will face Samoa Joe in a match that will determine Brock Lesnar’s opponent at SummerSlam, and according to a recent report made by Cageside Seats, Lesnar was really happy with Samoa Joe following their match at Great Balls of Fire, which might mean that their program has been extended. If that does end up being the case, then Joe will win next week, and Roman will need something else to do at SummerSlam.
On Monday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed what Roman Reigns might end up doing if WWE decides to book the Joe vs. Lesnar rematch for SummerSlam.
Alvarez: “Hey, how about this: Samoa Joe wins next week, he faces Brock Lesnar, and Roman joins [Seth and Dean], and you have your Shield reunion at SummerSlam.”
Meltzer: “Against Bray Wyatt and Miz and one of the other two dudes? I think I’d rather have another heel in there. Maybe [Elias] Samson then.”
Alvarez: “Braun!”
Meltzer: “Braun teaming with Bray Wyatt and Miz? I mean, I guess. He’s got a reason. Yeah, you could do that.”
