The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported that WWE is planning on doing a four-way match for the Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 33, which would involve the current champ Charlotte defending against Bayley, Nia Jax, and Sasha Banks. However, another report has surfaced which is suggesting that WWE has contacted several former female performers about an in-ring return against Charlotte.
According to Sportskeeda, WWE wants Lita to return to the ring and challenge Charlotte for the Women’s Championship. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Lita have a competitive match. In fact, it’s probably been a decade since she retired from the ring. But, she’s still in great shape, so she’s definitely capable of having another match.
Sportskeeda also reported that WWE has reached out to Trish Stratus, who just recently gave birth to her second child. Of course, Trish was originally scheduled to return to the ring at NXT Takeover: Toronto against Asuka, but she was unable to due to her pregnancy. So, if Lita doesn’t end up returning, we could see Trish return instead.
As of right now though, the Trish and Lita returns are very much a rumor, and it does look like WWE is building towards the aforementioned four way match between Sasha, Charlotte, Nia Jax, and Bayley.
