Following his loss to Roman Reigns at No Mercy, John Cena appeared on Raw Talk — the post-show for Raw exclusive pay-per-views — where he spoke about his future with WWE.
Cena, who turned 40 back in April, was unsure about his WWE future when he was asked if he was “done” by Jerry Lawler, and while the former 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion isn’t planning on retiring anytime soon, he made it clear (as if we didn’t already know) that his role in the company will be significantly reduced.
“I just think my role is different,” Cena said. “I had a podcast with Edge and Christian and I said the same thing: regardless of whether I have outside opportunities or not, I’m 40 years old, and I have 15 years of track experience here in the WWE, and not at a normal level, at an elite level, and I don’t know how much longer I can keep it up. If I have opportunities outside, great, if I didn’t, I think… I gotta know when to say when at that point, and I’m not done, but I don’t know if I can keep going at the pace that I’ve been going.”
